I’ve got home offices on the brain tonight. Unfortunately, we downsized when we made the move up to DC and lost our office space. We also lost our guest room and had a baby… so yeah, we lost A LOT of space when we moved.
Where to put our “office” has been a problem since day one. Right now we have a desk shoved into the corner of our living room and our printer is currently sitting on top of the box it came in. Did I mention the desk is a hand me down from my parents?
Time for a change. I’m thinking clean lines and modern (ish).
Our living room is a blend of masculine and feminine. I’d like to find a white desk that would be a nice contrast to the leather coffee table and wood built ins that anchor the room.
I love this image from Style Me Pretty. This was a DIY IKEA hack where they spray painted the top of the desk gold. The gold makes the desk look so chic and feminine. Gotta love a good IKEA hack.
Since I share a desk space with my husband, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he would probably not be too crazy about the above image. A gold, glittery desk is definitely a no go in my house.
I do think he would approve of this space from A Personal Organizer. I love the pop of gold from the shelf brackets, it’s so subtle but adds so much! The lucite chair with the white desk make for a perfect pairing.
I mentioned earlier that we are tight on space in our home. I thought this room layout from HGTV’s spatially challenged design tips was such a neat idea.
We may be able to do something like this if we rearrange things.
What do you guys think? Does this desk look too cramped or is it a good use of space?
Another space saver is using the desk as a night stand in the bedroom. One of my favorite bloggers, Bliss at home, has a great blog post dedicated to her experience transforming her bedroom space by using the desk/ night stand combo.
Also, the colors in this room are on point. I love that dark green chair against the white desk.
Lots to think about… what does your office look like?
